Monterey Park Hosts Community Remembrance Fair to Honor Shooting Victims: Hero Brandon Tsay Commemorates One Year Anniversary

MONTEREY PARK, CA – A year after the tragic shooting in Monterey Park, the community is coming together to honor those who lost their lives. Brandon Tsay, hailed as a hero for disarming the shooter at his family’s dance studio, is hosting a remembrance fair on Saturday to commemorate the lives lost in the shooting.

Tsay’s sister, Brenda, spoke about the event, emphasizing the importance of bringing the community together to celebrate the resilience and strength shown over the past year. The fair aims to unite the community and remember those who were lost in the tragedy.

The shooting, which took place at the Star Ballroom, resulted in the loss of 11 lives, including dancer Andy Kao, whose memory was honored in a special way. Shally Ung, who survived the shooting, celebrated Kao’s 73rd birthday by donating the day’s sales from her Arcadia donut shop to the Monterey Park Hope Resiliency Center.

The event symbolizes the community’s ability to heal and move forward after the devastating events that unfolded a year ago. It serves as a reminder of the resilience and unity within the Monterey Park community.

As the community comes together to honor the lives lost in the shooting, they also celebrate the strength and solidarity that have helped them overcome the tragedy. The remembrance fair is a powerful testament to the resilience and support found within the Monterey Park community.
