Murderer Sentenced to Death for Brutal Killing of Mother and Daughter in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas – In a tragic and heinous crime that shook the community, a man from North Texas was given a death sentence for the brutal murder of his former girlfriend and her young daughter in east Fort Worth in 2018. Paige Terrell Lawyer was convicted of killing 30-year-old O’Tishae Womack and 10-year-old Ka’Myria Womack in a horrific act that left many reeling from the senseless violence.

The prosecution painted a grim picture of the events leading up to the murders, detailing how O’Tishae and her sister, Lashundra, encountered Lawyer multiple times during a walk, only for tragedy to strike the next day when O’Tishae failed to appear for her morning walk. Concerned, Lashundra entered O’Tishae’s apartment, only to discover the lifeless bodies of O’Tishae and Ka’Myria – both victims of strangulation. The prosecution remarked that the method of killing was a chilling “calling card” of the defendant.

As the case unfolded, it was revealed that Lawyer’s DNA was found on various items at the crime scene, linking him unmistakably to the murders. Prosecutors suggested a chilling motive for the killings – to prevent O’Tishae from testifying against Lawyer in a pending domestic violence trial. The harrowing nature of the crimes was further underscored when it was disclosed during the sentencing phase that Ka’Myria had been raped, adding another layer of horror to an already gruesome case.

During the trial, emotional impact statements were read, with Lashundra, the victim’s sister, expressing the profound devastation brought upon their family by the actions of Lawyer. She condemned him as a “murderer, a rapist, and a coward,” ensuring that his name would forever be associated with the heinous crimes he committed. The sentencing marked a form of closure for the grieving family, as justice was served for the lives taken so brutally and abruptly.
