Murderer Sentenced to Death for Palm Springs Execution-style Killings

Indio, California – A jury’s decision to sentence Jose Vladimir Larin Garcia to death for the execution-style murders of four individuals in Palm Springs in 2019 was affirmed by Judge Anthony Villalobos. The victims, Carlos Campos-Rivera, Yuliana Garcia, Jacob Montgomery, and Juan Duarte-Raya, tragically lost their lives at the hands of Larin Garcia on February 3, 2019.

Larin Garcia shot Campos-Rivera in a heinous act of violence, resulting in a fatal gunshot to the head, while riding in a car with three other victims. The horrific events unfolded as the car, carrying the victims, was discovered with targeted gunshot wounds to the head on Sunny Dunes Road after Larin Garcia’s murderous rampage.

After attempting to evade capture by hiding under a truck, the suspect was apprehended with the victims’ blood spattered on him. Subsequently, Larin Garcia was charged with the murders, leading to a lengthy legal process that culminated in the jury’s decision to recommend the death penalty in February 2023.

District Attorney Mike Hestrin highlighted the gravity of the crimes committed by Larin Garcia, emphasizing the profound impact on the victims’ families and the community at large. The prosecution, led by Deputy DA Samantha Paixao, sought justice for the victims, including Yuliana Garcia, who was pregnant at the time of her death.
