Oxford Man Guilty of Vodka Bottle Attack on Partner, Sentenced to 30 Months

Oxford, England – A man from Chillingworth Crescent in Oxford, Lewis Wootton, has pleaded guilty to a violent attack on his partner, Hayley Dalton. The incident took place on July 31 last year, when Wootton got into an argument with passers-by at The Leys Pharmacy in Atkyns Road, Headington. The argument escalated, and Wootton proceeded to assault Miss Dalton, punching her and causing her to fall to the ground. He used a shard of glass from a smashed vodka bottle to inflict a 12cm long and 3cm deep cut on Miss Dalton’s face, leaving her with substantial and permanent scarring.

As a result of his actions, Wootton has been sentenced to 30 months in prison by Judge Joseph Hart, who emphasized the lasting impact of Wootton’s violence on his partner. In addition to the attack on Miss Dalton, Wootton also pleaded guilty to affray and criminal damage at the same hearing and has been made subject to a restraining order until further notice.

Specialist investigator Rebecca Newman expressed satisfaction with the sentencing, stating that it will provide the victim with the opportunity to recover and rebuild her life. The court’s decision aims to bring a sense of justice for the victim, who has endured both physical and emotional trauma as a result of the violent attack.

The incident not only affected Miss Dalton but also took place in front of numerous members of the public. The violent and prolonged nature of Wootton’s behavior in a public setting underscores the need for accountability and deterrence. The court’s decision sends a strong message about the consequences of such violent and criminal behavior, emphasizing the importance of upholding the safety and well-being of individuals in society.

As Wootton awaits the legal consequences of his actions, the community will continue to rally around Miss Dalton as she seeks to overcome the trauma and physical scars left by the disturbing incident. The sentencing serves as a reminder of the need to address and prevent domestic violence, ensuring that individuals are protected from harm and given the support they need to recover from such traumatic experiences.
