Palermo Man Denied Bail After Third Violent Attack; Faces Up to 22 Years in Prison

PALERMO, Calif. — A local man is being held without bail after facing his third felony assault charge in just over a year. Timothy Bahadar, 36, was taken into custody following a recent violent incident that ended with a man seriously injured.

On Thursday, Bahadar appeared in court to face charges including assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily harm and committing a felony while already released on bail for two separate felony assault cases. The court denied his bail citing the severity of his actions and the potential threat to public safety.

The charges stem from an incident on April 7, when Butte County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a disturbance at a home in Palermo. According to authorities, Bahadar allegedly initiated a confrontation with a 31-year-old man who was visiting the residence. The dispute escalated, and Bahadar is accused of following the visitor outside and stabbing him. The assault was reportedly witnessed by a neighbor and recorded by nearby surveillance cameras.

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey detailed that the attacker used an eight-inch knife, striking the victim in the right-side rib area. The attack resulted in severe injuries to the victim’s liver and one of his kidney arteries. Emergency surgery was required for the injuries sustained.

Prior to this attack, Bahadar had been on bail for two other violent incidents. The first incident, occurring in March of the previous year, involved Bahadar reportedly stabbing a customer in the neck at a tobacco store in Oroville, an act described as unprovoked by authorities.

A few months later, in July, Bahadar was again arrested after he allegedly attacked the teenage son of his girlfriend, purportedly punching and strangling the 16-year-old, causing serious injuries. This second case was also marked by the severity of the assault, leading to charges of felony child abuse and battery with serious bodily injury.

Both prior cases were still active, with jury trials scheduled to begin on May 19. Now, with his recent arrest and the judge’s decision to hold him without bail, Bahadar’s legal troubles are mounting as he faces the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence.

District Attorney Ramsey pointed out the distressing pattern of violence, noting Bahadar’s repeated offenses and disregard for the law. According to Ramsey, if convicted on all charges, Bahadar could be sentenced to up to 22 years in state prison.

The community and local authorities have expressed concern over the series of violent incidents associated with Bahadar. The court’s decision to deny bail underscores the ongoing efforts to address repeat offenders and ensure community safety.

Bahadar’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 16, where further proceedings will illuminate the future course of this troubling case. Community members and local law enforcement are closely monitoring the situation, hoping for a resolution that reinforces public safety and justice.
