CAMBRIDGE, England — A violent altercation on Saturday night left a man in his 50s with serious injuries, sparking a police investigation into two teenage suspects allegedly involved in the attack. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near the skate park at Jesus Green.
Emergency services responded after reports of the assault reached police through the ambulance service. The victim sustained multiple injuries, including fractures to his face and ribs, and briefly lost consciousness. He was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Investigators believe the assault was committed by two boys, both described as white and likely in their mid-to-late teens. Witnesses noted that one suspect had slicked-back brown hair, wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, while the other had light-colored hair, possibly blond, and was dressed in a white T-shirt and shorts.
Detective Constable Amberlie Ford, who is leading the investigation, emphasized the brutality of the attack. “This was a particularly violent incident, and it has left the victim with serious injuries,” Ford commented. She urged anyone with information about the assault to step forward, particularly those who may have witnessed the event firsthand.
Saturday’s attack occurred in a busy area, coinciding with the Midsummer Fair at nearby Midsummer Common, which typically attracts large crowds. Authorities believe that more individuals may have been present who could help shed light on the incident.
