Plateau State, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu vowed on Saturday to intensify efforts to capture and punish the perpetrators responsible for the recent deadly attacks in several communities within Plateau State. These acts of violence left numerous individuals dead and caused substantial property damage, sparking national outrage and calls for swift government action.
In a statement delivered by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the assaults on innocent civilians as intolerable, especially during ongoing initiatives to strengthen peace and stability across the nation. He directed the country’s security forces to pursue and apprehend those behind the attacks to face the full force of the law.
“This repeated pattern of violence has no place in our country, especially at a time when we are putting every effort into reinstating peace and order throughout the nation,” Tinubu stated, emphasizing that the frequent attacks undermine the state’s peace initiatives.
The president extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims in the Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai communities of Bokkos Local Government Area, as well as those in Manguna and Dafo villages, who bore the brunt of the violence.
Adding a layer of support, Tinubu assured Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang of his commitment to helping end the cycle of violence that has plagued the region. He urged the communities affected by these tragic events to assist law enforcement by providing information that could lead to the capture of the gunmen and further secure their areas.
In response to the immediate needs of the victims, the president mandated the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate closely with state authorities. The goal is to deliver prompt relief to the wounded and displaced, helping to facilitate the rebuilding and recovery processes for the affected communities.
Reflecting on the broader implications of the attacks, Tinubu expressed his frustration and sorrow regarding the ongoing security challenges. He iterated his administration’s dedication to safeguarding Nigerian citizens and eradicating malicious elements from the nation.
“As we mourn, let us also remember that no Nigerian community should face such despair. We must unite and bolster our endeavors for peace and stability across our country,” the president remarked. He called on all Nigerians to stand together, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political differences, to uphold common values and work towards a peaceful coexistence.
Lastly, Tinubu’s message to the nation highlighted a commitment to enhancing security measures and bolstering the efforts of local and national agencies to deal with threats and ensure public safety. He stressed the importance of collective action in these trying times, seeking the cooperation of all Nigerians in fostering a safe and secure environment for future generations.
