Robbery Suspect Causes Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 435, Killing Innocent Driver

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A pursuit initiated by police in Kansas City, Missouri resulted in a head-on collision on Interstate 435, leading to the death of two individuals. The suspect, identified as Ollie Coldiron, 29, allegedly robbed three convenience stores in the Northland area before attempting to flee from law enforcement.

The pursuit, which began after Coldiron was suspected of armed robberies at multiple establishments, came to a tragic end when his vehicle collided with another on the interstate. The victim, Alphonso Carroll, 60, was driving a Chevrolet Equinox and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both Coldiron and Carroll lost their lives in the crash.

Prior to the collision, Coldiron was believed to have committed a series of armed robberies within a 100-minute span during the early-morning hours. The string of robberies took place at a Minit Mart, a Shell station, and a Pilot station. Coldiron was also reported to have fired at least one gunshot during the Shell robbery.

The pursuit initiated by the Kansas City Police Department was terminated when Coldiron entered the interstate driving the wrong way. This ultimately led to the fatal collision with Carroll’s vehicle.
