Perry, Iowa – Perry High School’s principal was critically injured while trying to shield students during a shooting at the school. The incident, which took place on January 4th, resulted in the tragic death of an 11-year-old boy, Ahmir Jolliff, and left several others injured. The shooter, identified as 17-year-old Dylan Butler, reportedly died by suicide after carrying out the attack.
In addition to the principal, two staff members and four students sustained injuries during the shooting, which began in the cafeteria before classes started that morning at around 7:30 a.m. The Iowa Department of Public Safety confirmed that the number of injured individuals had risen to seven, all of whom suffered varying degrees of wounds or injuries.
