ELK GROVE, Calif. — A violent altercation at Pleasant Grove High School left a 14-year-old boy hospitalized and led to the arrest of four students after a group assault.
The conflict escalated after a dispute related to a romantic relationship. One student, who asked to be identified only as Hunter, reported that the encounter began shortly after he left class when he saw a group approaching him. According to Hunter, one of the students confronted him aggressively and punched him. As he attempted to defend himself, three others joined in, intensifying the attack.
Hunter described the chaos, recounting how he was put in a headlock and subsequently thrown to the ground. He said he felt overwhelmed as another student struck him. “I literally got full-on stomped into the concrete,” he recalled, adding that he was unable to fight back as he lay on the ground.
Following the incident, four suspects, all aged 14, were arrested on charges of assault and taken to juvenile hall. Hunter sustained multiple injuries, including a concussion, necessitating hospitalization. His father, Sean, expressed his concern over the severity of the attack, reflecting on Hunter’s fears of potential long-term consequences. “He told me he could have been killed or paralyzed,” Sean said.
The school principal addressed the incident in a message to families, stating that staff members and security acted swiftly to de-escalate the situation. He emphasized their commitment to student safety and reported that law enforcement was contacted as a precaution. The school administration is currently following up with students involved and their families.
Despite these assurances, Hunter voiced that he feels unsafe at school, citing two recent attacks within the same month. Sean is considering withdrawing his son from Pleasant Grove High School due to ongoing concerns about violence and social media influence among students. “It’s like they think violence is entertainment,” he stated, voicing frustration over the culture at the school.
The Elk Grove Unified School District is actively investigating the incident to ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
