Shocking Surveillance Video Captures Deadly Shooting at Brockton Hibachi Restaurant

BROCKTON, Mass. — The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office released surveillance video Saturday of a deadly shooting inside a Brockton hibachi restaurant the night before. The video, filmed inside the Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet on Friday night, showed the shooter walking through the crowded restaurant full of families before opening fire on a man dining at a table with one other person.

The victim, identified as 22-year-old Joe Araujo of Brockton, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office. The video also showed patrons hiding under tables or streaming out of the restaurant after the shooting. Thankfully, no one else was injured in the incident.

Brockton Police and Massachusetts State Police Detectives with the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office are currently investigating the shooting. Preliminary investigations show that Araujo was the target and this was not a random act of violence, according to the DA’s office.

This is indeed a developing story and more information will be provided as it becomes available. The release of the surveillance video may aid in the investigation as authorities work to bring justice for the victim and his family. It is a tragic incident that has shaken the community, and our thoughts are with the loved ones of Joe Arauju during this difficult time.
