ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. — Authorities have formally charged six individuals in connection with a violent incident that occurred at Pike’s Pub on May 30. Among them is 35-year-old Justin L. Wert, who faces charges of felony battery and strangulation, alongside misdemeanor criminal recklessness.

The incident, which has garnered significant public attention, involved an altercation between several patrons, including the victim, James Simmons. Videos circulating on social media depict a group of men, identified by investigators as associated with the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, violently assaulting Simmons, who is Black, while using racial slurs.

According to court documents, Wert instigated the attack by aggressively confronting Simmons and reportedly throwing the first punch. He allegedly yelled incitements during the assault and was accused of using racially charged language, further exacerbating the situation. Zuber claimed that Simmons had attempted to leave without settling his bar tab, a claim that was disputed by other witnesses.

Other individuals charged include 44-year-old Ryan A. Minick, who was seen confronting Simmons and throwing punches during the altercation, and 52-year-old Jerrad W. Impton, who allegedly struck Simmons from behind. Both have been charged with felony battery and misdemeanor criminal recklessness.

Lastly, 64-year-old Kent Adamonis was identified from the videos as a participant who kicked Simmons during the assault.

The six suspects are currently incarcerated at the Allen County Jail, while Wert is being held in a facility across state lines in Ohio.
