NASHUA, New Hampshire — Sky Meadow Country Club is set to reopen its restaurant, PRIME, as the community begins to heal from a tragic shooting that occurred at the facility two months ago. The restaurant will welcome back patrons starting Thursday, December 4, signaling a return to normalcy for a location that had been shaken by violence.
Owner Rob Parsons expressed gratitude for the community’s support through a recent Facebook post, emphasizing the outpouring of encouragement during a difficult time. “We look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends,” Parsons said, as he highlighted the significance of the club to both residents and visitors.
The shooting incident that led to this moment of reopening occurred on September 20, during a wedding celebration at the club. A gunman opened fire, resulting in the tragic death of 59-year-old Robert DeCesare, who was shot while trying to shield his family. In addition to DeCesare, two others were injured in the attack, including a club employee and a wedding guest.
The alleged shooter, 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau, is currently awaiting trial on charges of second-degree murder, among other offenses. Authorities took him into custody soon after the rampage, which also left several individuals hurt in the chaos that ensued. Although Nadeau had been an employee at the country club in the past, law enforcement officials do not believe the incident was premeditated or aimed at specific individuals.
The case has drawn significant attention, with New Hampshire’s Attorney General John Formella praising the quick actions of patrons who came together to confront the shooter and help protect others. Their bravery in a moment of crisis stood out as a testament to the strength of the community.
As the country club prepares to reopen its doors, many locals are hopeful that this step signifies a renewed sense of safety and unity. The reopening comes as both a practical and symbolic moment in the healing process for the Sky Meadow community, illustrating resilience in the face of tragedy.
Despite the recent violent events, the country club aims to move forward, inviting families and friends back to your dining experience, in hopes of restoring a sense of peace and familiarity.
