Stabbing Rampage Leaves Four Dead and Seven Injured in Rockford, Illinois – Suspect in Custody

Rockford, Illinois – Four people lost their lives in a tragic stabbing incident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Rockford, Illinois. Additionally, seven individuals sustained injuries during the rampage.

The victims of the attack included a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man, as per a news release from the Rockford Police Department. The injured individuals were rushed to local hospitals with severe injuries, as stated by the police.

During a press conference following the incident, Police Chief Carla Redd described the situation as a “multi-jurisdictional event” and mentioned that one of the injured individuals was in critical condition.

Sheriff Gary Caruana of Winnebago County disclosed that a woman who was a victim of a home invasion had been stabbed in the hands and face. Another male who came to her aid was also stabbed but is currently in stable condition at the hospital.

The suspect, a 22-year-old male, was apprehended by authorities at 1:35 p.m. local time. Rockford police responded to multiple locations related to the incident around 1:14 p.m. Authorities have confirmed that there are no other suspects at large in connection to the incident.

A vigil is scheduled to honor the victims on Thursday afternoon, according to a post from the City of Rockford Government. Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara expressed his sorrow for the community’s loss, emphasizing the need for unity and support during these difficult times.
