Suspect Arrested for Murder of Woman in Pomona: Investigation Ongoing

POMONA, CALIFORNIA – A 43-year-old man, Tommy Ray Belin, has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of 25-year-old Andrea Bustillos in Pomona. The Pomona Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit apprehended Belin on allegations of killing Bustillos on March 21.

The investigation commenced on February 26 when officers responded to a 911 call at the 900 block of West Holt Avenue in Pomona, indicating a woman potentially overdosing from fentanyl. Bustillos was discovered unconscious with visible injuries at the scene, where despite efforts by firefighters to save her, she was pronounced dead.

Belin was identified as the primary suspect in the case and was subsequently arrested in Upland. He was booked at Pomona City Jail on charges of murder, assault, and failing to register as a sex offender upon relocating from a residence.

Authorities are still determining the exact cause of Bustillos’ death, whether from an overdose or her injuries. The motive behind the incident and the factors that led investigators to Belin remain unspecified at this time.
