Teen Facing Custody for Repeatedly Breaking Bail Terms After Dublin Restaurant Incident

Dublin, Ireland – A 17-year-old boy accused of violent disorder at a restaurant where two deaths occurred on Christmas Eve in Dublin is facing potential custody after repeatedly violating his bail terms. The teenager, whose identity is protected due to his age, has breached his bail conditions nine times, prompting concerns from authorities about his compliance with the legal process.

The charges stem from an incident at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown, where Tristan Sherry died of blunt force trauma to the head after an altercation with Jason Hennessy Sr. Hennessy Sr. passed away 11 days later in the hospital. The teenager was charged with engaging in violent disorder by using or threatening violence alongside three others, causing fear among those present at the restaurant on December 24th.

During a recent court hearing at the Dublin Children’s Court, concerns were raised about the teenager’s repeated violations of his bail terms. The prosecution requested stricter conditions, citing the possibility of additional charges pending further investigation. Despite the defense’s plea for a warning instead of tighter restrictions, the case was adjourned for six weeks to allow for a review of the situation.

The Dublin Children’s Court scheduled the case for future directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), indicating the complexity of the legal proceedings and the involvement of multiple parties in the investigation. The teenager is one of seven individuals facing charges in connection to the incident, with six others already in court proceedings. The authorities are continuing their efforts to gather evidence and ensure a fair legal process for all parties involved in the case.
