UPDATE: Violent Armed Attack at Vaudreuil-Dorion Condo Leaves Two Dead and One Injured

VAUDREUIL-DORION, Quebec – The Sûreté du Québec has released an update on the violent armed attack that occurred in a condo building at 1600 rue Émile-Bouchard in Vaudreuil-Dorion just before noon on Thursday, February 15. The incident resulted in the mobilization of numerous police officers and paramedics.

According to the latest report, police officers from the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Est MRC were called to the scene of an armed stabbing attack just before noon. Three people were found with serious injuries, with two women pronounced dead at the scene and a 70-year-old woman taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The suspect, a 44-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He will be interviewed by investigators. A neighbor of the victims confirmed that the suspect had previously been arrested by the Sûreté du Québec and was known to have significant mental health problems.

Investigators from the Service des enquêtes sur les crimes contre la personne, accompanied by the Service d’identité judiciaire, were on site to analyze the scene, meet witnesses, and gather as much information as possible about the circumstances surrounding the event.

The violent attack took place on the 6th floor of a building in the Vela housing complex. The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are working to gather more information about the motive behind the attack and the events leading up to it.
