Surrey, Canada — Authorities in Surrey are conducting an investigation into a violent episode that took place inside a local eatery, Donair Affair. The restaurant, situated in the Sullivan Heights neighborhood near Sullivan Heights Secondary School, became the scene of a startling attack this Wednesday.
A video that emerged on social media, captured by a cell phone, depicts a distressing incident involving a man who was assaulted while sitting at one of the restaurant’s tables. The footage shows him being unexpectedly hit on the head with a chair, followed by receiving several punches, leading to visible injuries.
Police spokesperson Ian MacDonald described the video as “disturbing,” emphasizing the apparent injuries the victim suffered from the attack. He also noted that the context of the altercation is still under thorough investigation as there were events that transpired before the recorded assault.
According to police, the altercation involved an adult male victim and a young person. Initial reports mention a conversation between the two right before the attack, the details of which are still being examined. The adult victim sustained a black eye and bruises on his face.
Following this incident, Surrey Police have engaged with several youths present at the scene, including those directly involved in the event.
