Woman’s card is declinced at Foot Locker and she stabs teen she thinks is making fun of her

TAYLOR, MI – Shoppers at the Southland Center mall were stunned when an argument at a Kids Foot Locker escalated into violence, leaving a 19-year-old woman hospitalized with multiple stab wounds.

According to police, tensions flared Saturday when a woman shopping with children had her payment card declined at the register. Witnesses reported that someone in line made a disparaging comment—sparking a confrontation that quickly spiraled out of control.

Suniya Jenkins, who was inside the store at the time, described hearing a commotion and approaching the scene out of curiosity. Jenkins maintains she was not responsible for the comment but found herself drawn into the escalating dispute.

Moments later, according to Jenkins, the suspect became enraged, allegedly screaming at other shoppers and threatening her with violence. Without warning, the woman produced what appeared to be a kitchen knife and attacked Jenkins, stabbing her four times.

Jenkins sustained injuries to her neck, abdomen, and thigh, resulting in a punctured lung. Despite the severity of her wounds, she is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

Authorities responded quickly to the scene and took the suspect into custody. Officials confirmed that charges would be forthcoming, while the motive behind the outburst remains under investigation.

Store employees assisted victims until emergency crews arrived. Shoppers who witnessed the incident described a chaotic scene as parents rushed to get their children out of harm’s way.

The suspect’s children were present during the incident, according to witnesses, raising concerns about their welfare amid the unfolding violence.

Jenkins stated her intent to press charges against her attacker, but expressed regret for the children involved, hoping they would not be separated from their mother.

Police have not released the suspect’s name. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the store.

Medical staff said Jenkins’ prompt treatment and resilience contributed to her recovery prospects. She remains under observation but is expected to leave the hospital in the coming days.
