Behind Bars: Family Seeks Justice for Woman Killed in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga – A 35-year-old woman was tragically shot and killed last week in DeKalb County. The victim, identified as Jalisa Abney, was known to the suspect. Now, her grieving family is adamant about seeking justice and seeing the perpetrator arrested.

Abney was described as a hardworking individual who held multiple businesses, including a trucking company and a car-tinting business. Tragically, the fatal incident took place at her place of business on Moreland Avenue.

The shooting occurred at a truck lot where Abney and another individual were both targeted. Despite her hardworking nature and unassuming routine, Abney’s life was abruptly cut short in a senseless act of violence.

Heartbroken by the news of her cousin’s untimely death, Norell Combs detailed receiving a devastating text message informing her of Abney’s critical condition. Despite residing hours away in Columbus, Georgia, Combs rushed to Grady Hospital in Atlanta, where Abney was being treated.

Unfortunately, Abney succumbed to her injuries the following day, leaving her family and loved ones grappling with the pain caused by this senseless tragedy. Their grief was compounded by the lack of media coverage surrounding her death, prompting concerns and frustrations about justice being served.

While awaiting updates on the investigation, Combs expressed the family’s impatience with the legal process and urged authorities to swiftly apprehend the suspect. Despite their knowledge of the perpetrator’s identity, they emphasized the importance of allowing law enforcement to follow the proper procedures.

In response to inquiries about the case, the DeKalb County Police Department stated that the suspect has been identified, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend them. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in ensuring that justice is served for Jalisa Abney.
