Elderly Woman Attacked and Robbed in Violent Oakland Purse Snatching Incident

OAKLAND, Calif. – A 66-year-old woman was violently assaulted by two suspects in North Oakland on Wednesday evening. The attackers stole her purse, iPhone, and a shopping bag before fleeing the scene. The Oakland woman sustained multiple cuts and bruises but declined to be taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The violent attack took place at around 6:45 p.m. on 40th Street near Clarke Street. According to the authorities, the woman was walking alone when a car stopped, and two males, possibly teenagers, got out. They proceeded to push her to the ground and repeatedly kicked her in the head while attempting to take her belongings.

After the assault, the suspects got back into their vehicle, driven by a third suspect, and drove away westbound on 40th Street. The woman was left traumatized and in need of medical attention, prompting the police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland to offer up to $5,000 in reward money for any information leading to the arrest of the attackers.
