Robert Hobb Jr. Faces Multiple Charges After Violent Attack on Law Enforcement Leaves Officers Injured in Greenville

GREENVILLE, Pitt County, N.C. – Robert Hobb Jr. is facing multiple charges after an attack on law enforcement officers left three injured on Sunday, Feb. 4th.

According to Greenville police, the officers were responding to a disturbance call at a home off of Copper Beech Drive, where a man had reportedly punched a resident of the home after banging on his door and running inside with his dog. The suspect had already fled the home when the police arrived.

As officers arrived at the scene, another person called in stating that the same suspect was trying to get his dog to attack a door dash delivery driver. The police were able to locate the suspect, identified as Robert Hobb Jr., outside of his apartment close by.

During the arrest, Hobb Jr. allegedly grabbed an officer’s throat, leading to a struggle where other officers used physical force and tasers to subdue him. Authorities stated that Hobb Jr. also managed to take one of the officer’s tasers and discharge multiple rounds during the assault.

Hobb Jr. now faces multiple charges, including one count of felony break/enter terrorize/injure, two counts of felony assault on a law enforcement officer causing serious injury, three counts of felony resisting a public officer/serious injury, one count of felony assault by strangulation, one count of misdemeanor simple assault, and one count of misdemeanor injury to personal property. He was given an $86,000 bond.

The three injured officers were transported to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment but are expected to recover.
