Security Guard Killed in Florida Bar Shooting, 6 Others Wounded: Hero’s Selfless Act Saves Lives

Doral, Florida – A tragic incident unfolded at a bar in Doral, Florida, resulting in the death of a security guard who intervened in an altercation. Along with the security guard, a total of six others were wounded in the altercation that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Law enforcement authorities were called to the scene just after 3:30 am, where an exchange of gunfire took place between the officers and the shooter, identified as Jamal Wayne Wood, 37. Both the shooter and the security guard, who was later identified as George Alejandro Castellanos, 23, were pronounced dead at the scene.

George Castellanos, who was working as a security guard, tragically lost his life while trying to intervene in the altercation at the bar. He was described as a dedicated father to a one-year-old daughter, who was on the brink of graduating from university with a degree in Biological Science and a minor in Criminal Justice.

His family and loved ones expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting his eagerness to become a police officer and the positive impact he had on everyone around him. They remembered his infectious smile and uplifting energy that brightened every room he entered, reflecting on his dedication to his work and family.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to ascertain how the bystanders were injured during the altercation. The injured victims, including a police officer, were reported to be in stable condition except for one individual, who remains in critical condition.

Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez commended the heroic actions of his officers, emphasizing the importance of their training in swiftly responding to and neutralizing the threat in such situations. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is actively investigating the police-involved shooting, while the Miami-Dade Police Department is handling the homicide investigation, with the Doral Police Department contributing to both cases.
