Houston, Texas – Houston Police released footage of a tragic shooting that occurred at Joel Osteen’s megachurch, resulting in the death of a woman and critical injury to her son. The incident, captured on body cameras and surveillance cameras, unfolded in a harrowing manner on February 11.
In the released video, Assistant Police Keith Seafus emphasized that the investigation is still in the preliminary stages. The footage from the church’s security cameras showed the arrival of 36-year-old Genesse Ivonne Moreno and her 7-year-old son, Samuel Moreno, shortly before 2 p.m. Gunshots erupted within the church as police officers confronted the shooter.
Amid the chaos, the shooter can be heard making alarming statements such as “I have a bomb” and “You killed my son.” Law enforcement officials present at the scene, including off-duty officers and a commission agent, engaged in gunfire with the shooter, resulting in her death. Unfortunately, the woman’s son sustained a serious gunshot wound to the head during the altercation.
Despite the efforts of paramedics and officers, the child remained in critical condition, undergoing multiple surgeries. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, though investigators discovered antisemitic writings by the shooter.
