PRICHARD, Alabama – A tragic incident unfolded on Monday as a 15-year-old girl lost her life in a shooting on the Interstate 165 north of the Bay Branch Road exit. The shooting also left a 9-year-old boy injured, but thankfully, he is in stable condition. According to Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch, the shooter’s intended target was inside the same car as the victims.

“This was a rolling gun battle down the interstate. The intended target in the vehicle is at least known to the person who was shooting,” Burch said. The incident resulted in the closure of I-165 as authorities pursued the shooter, who remains at large. Burch expressed uncertainty about whether the shooting was gang-related, emphasizing that the individuals involved are known to each other, but their affiliations are unknown.

While the young boy is recovering in the hospital, the family and friends of the 15-year-old girl are left to mourn her untimely death. The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the senseless violence that continues to plague communities across the country.

As authorities work tirelessly to apprehend the shooter and bring justice for the victims, questions linger about the safety of individuals traveling on the interstate.
