Shooting tragedy in Nashville alley leaves one dead, one injured

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A tragic shooting incident took place in an alley between Hayes and Church streets during the early hours of Saturday morning, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to another. Metro Nashville Police are actively investigating the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Christopher Cheeks, who lost his life in the unfortunate event. Another victim, a 29-year-old man, was also injured in the incident.

According to police reports, Cheeks and his friends were at the location when three unidentified men started interacting with the group. The situation took a drastic turn when the suspects attempted to rob the group, leading to gunfire and subsequent injuries. The 29-year-old victim recounted that everything seemed normal until the attempted robbery, after which chaos ensued.

Following the shooting, the victims scattered in different directions in an attempt to escape the danger. The injured 29-year-old was discovered on Church Street, being promptly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for medical attention. Tragically, Cheeks was found in the parking garage of the Hayes Street Hotel and despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at Vanderbilt.

Fortunately, it was determined that no one else was harmed in the shooting incident.
