Stockport, England – In a shocking incident captured on Snapchat, a group of hooded individuals launched a brutal attack on an innocent shop worker at a petrol station on Wellington Road South in Stockport. The disturbing video, which circulated on social media, showed the defenseless employee being physically assaulted and robbed in the early hours of July 29, 2021.
The footage led authorities to apprehend Kausar Amin, Bradley Maphosa, Tyler Garforth, and Riley Richardson in connection to the violent assault. The clip depicted the perpetrators menacing the staff member before storming into the establishment and launching a vicious attack, throwing objects at the victim and subjecting him to a barrage of punches and kicks. The victim, visibly terrified, was later treated by paramedics after the assailants made off with merchandise totaling £600.
Following their arrests, Amin, Maphosa, Garforth, and Richardson faced charges related to the incident. Amin, 22, of Oldham, received a two-year sentence for robbery at Minshull Street Crown Court. His three co-conspirators were also convicted: Maphosa, 20, of Salford, was sentenced to two years in a young offender institution; Garforth, 19, of Chadderton, Oldham, received a 13-month suspended sentence for two years; and Richardson, 19, of Oldham, was handed a 13-month suspended prison term.
In response to the case, Detective Constable Lucy Williams expressed satisfaction in holding the perpetrators accountable for their egregious actions. She emphasized the importance of the victim’s bravery and the support received in securing justice. Williams also acknowledged the invaluable assistance provided by the public during the investigation process, underscoring the significance of the evidence gathered in bringing the offenders to justice.
As part of their sentencing, Garforth was ordered to perform 200 hours of unpaid work, attend 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days, and adhere to a nightly curfew. Richardson was mandated to participate in a six-month alcohol treatment program, complete 100 hours of unpaid work, and engage in 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days. The outcomes of the case serve as a reminder of the consequences individuals face for engaging in senseless acts of violence and criminal behavior.
