Ted Cruz: Unjust Treatment of Justice Thomas by Democrats

Sen. Ted Cruz stated on Sunday that Democrats save their most significant animosity for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas because, in the Democrats’ opinion, Thomas is not permitted to disagree with the left-wing doctrine as a Black man.

The Texas Republican said in an interview that Clarence Thomas is one of the finest judges the Supreme Court has ever seen, a staunch constitutionalist, and hated by the left.

Thomas has come under fire recently from the Dems, including reports from the media that a company related to GOP megadonor Harlan Crow funded trips for Thomas and his wife. Harlan Crow allegedly had business dealings with the Supreme Court in the mid-2000s.

Cruz again remarked that Thomas is a remarkable jurist.

Cruz claimed to be familiar with Justice Antonin Scalia, who is just as conservative as Justice Clarence Thomas. Justice Scalia was not treated with such disdain by the left, and Democrats consider Justice Thomas a traitor simply because he is African-American.

And as for Thomas’ trips, cited in an ethics complaint with the court, all trips taken by Justices nationally and internationally are funded by others, said Cruz.

Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg are among these liberal luminaries. Even still, Cruz asserted, the media and the Democrats who are attacking Justice Thomas don’t care at all.

He elaborated that this is because the Democratic themselves ignore Democratic judicial candidates. The left despises Clarence Thomas for being an exceptional constitutionalist; thus, this is a political smear operation intended for him.

Meanwhile, Justice Samuel Alito claims to have identified the source of the leak of the court’s Dobbs decision, which reversed the Roe v. Wade abortion decision. Cruz has expressed surprise at the lack of information on the leaker’s identity.

Cruz stated that the draft being leaked was one of the most significant violations of the trust of the virtue of the United States Supreme Court. It was an assault on the rule of law, and if anyone thinks they know, the court needs to redouble the investigation, although Alito has said he doesn’t have enough evidence, Cruz added.

The senator has suggested that Chief Justice John Roberts contact the FBI to assist with the investigation.

The marshal’s office handled the investigation, and according to Cruz, the marshal’s office has fine people working for it, but they lack the resources and expertise of the FBI. The court hesitated to do so for constitutional considerations of separation of powers. Coordinate branches of government rarely accept assistance from other departments. Cruz, acknowledging the gravity of the situation, said he would advise the Chief Justice to request FBI cooperation with the marshals.

He continued to say that the public has a right to know, and the guilty party should be sent to prison or disbarred if they are a lawyer.
